One of the primary concepts with which the present project engages, is that of ‘aura.’ Since my artistic production could be considered a ‘copy’ by a lay man, the question arises whether it carries with it the aura of a ‘novel’ and ‘original’ artistic production. Another theoretical concept which this project explores is that which is intrinsic to religious art in general: religious artefacts have historically had the potential to arouse in those perceiving them sentiments of piety, etc. How far, and to what extent, is this ‘ritual’ produced and carried over when the religious artefact is subjected to digitalized reproduction? To what extent is it a ‘copy’ and not an original?
